CBL Donates $12,500 to Greer Community Ministries

The Citizens Building and Loan (CBL) Charitable Foundation has given $12,500 to Greer Community Ministries for the purchase of a climate controlled storage building.

GCM is a faith based organization with the philosophy that, “no elderly, home bound or disadvantaged person in the Greater Greer area will go hungry.” In 2018, Meals on Wheels delivered 70,442 hot and freshly prepared meals in the Greer area. Also, over 7,669 clients were assisted through the Food Pantry and Sharon’s Clothing Closet. An average of 30 Senior Diners were brought to the ministry on week days to fellowship, eat and learn through the program.

“Greer Community Ministries is blessed to have the CBL Foundation as a significant supporter in our mission to feed and clothe neighbors in need in the greater Greer area,” says Candice Good, Board Chair for Greer Community Ministries, “CBL’s commitment to the ministry has been unwavering throughout the decades.”

A climate controlled storage building will help the ministry further support the growth of the programs and events by storing all event products outside and allowing the inside space to be used for 4 programs – Meals on Wheels, Food Pantry, Senior Dining and Sharon’s Clothing Closet. The new building will also keep all sorting and storage in outside instead of in the hallways as to keep them open and up to code for handicap standards.

“The CBL Charitable Foundation has been supporting Greer Community Ministries and their programs for many years,” said CBL CEO & President Jennifer T. Jones. “Our hope is that as they continue to expand their programs and efforts more people of our community will receive the items that they need. It is about coming together and reaching out.”
