CBL Foundation Donates $12,500 to Greer Community Ministries

The Citizens Building and Loan (CBL) Charitable Foundation has given $12,500 to Greer Community Ministries (GCM) Meals on Wheels program.

GCM is a faith based organization with the philosophy that, “no elderly, home bound or disadvantaged person in the Greater Greer area will go hungry.”

In 2019, Meals on Wheels delivered 85,191 hot, freshly prepared meals in the Greer area. So far with the pandemic challenges of 2020 the Meals on Wheels program has continued at capacity never missing a meal. GCM is cooking and delivering hot meals five days a week and has taken precautionary measures for safety. These safety measures include, but are not limited to, loading volunteer vehicles without them getting out of car, putting all meals in a bag to hang on door to keep distance and to keep the same core group in the kitchen to minimize people in and out.

“Greer Community Ministries is so grateful to have the CBL Foundation as a partner,” says Donny Kaufman, Executive Director for Greer Community Ministries. “We have not stopped serving during this pandemic and are so blessed by the number of people in the community who are volunteering.”

“The CBL Charitable Foundation has been a proud supporter of Greer Community Ministries for many years, and we have watched their diligence within this pandemic to keep serving the community so that no person will go hungry. This is a mission we are proud to support,” said CBL CEO & President Jennifer T. Jones.

Volunteers are a vital part of the Meals on Wheels program. Anyone interested in learning more about getting involved at GCM can visit www.gcminc.org.
